Driving test preparation with ACT Capital Driving School is a full-length mock assessment on the kind of Canberra roads the ACT driving assessment actually uses, marked the way an examiner marks, followed by targeted work on whatever the mock exposed. It covers observation and head checks, gap selection at roundabouts, speed management on the arterials, and the set manoeuvres: reverse parking, the turn in the road, hill starts and controlled reversing. Most learners take two to four preparation lessons in the fortnight before an assessment. You are told plainly whether you are ready, including when the answer is not yet.
The most common case. Two to four lessons in the final fortnight, aimed at the specific things that lose marks rather than at general driving.
A single mock assessment answers this better than another month of practice. It also usually costs less than a failed assessment fee.
Bring the examiner's marked sheet. A second attempt that repeats the first is common and entirely avoidable, and the fastest route through is to work the marked faults specifically.

If you are still building basic confidence in traffic, test preparation is premature and you will spend the mock assessment discovering things a normal lesson would have found more cheaply. Book ordinary lessons until roundabouts and lane changes feel routine, then come back to this.
Roughly 45 minutes on assessment-style roads with no coaching during the drive, because coaching during the drive is precisely what will not be available on the day. Faults are recorded as they happen and gone through afterwards.
What was marked, how often, and which faults are habits rather than one-offs. Habits are the ones worth spending lessons on: a single missed head check is noise, six of them is a pattern that will repeat under pressure.
One or two lessons aimed narrowly at what the mock exposed. For most learners that is observation and roundabout gap selection rather than manoeuvres, which is not where they expected to spend the time.
If the faults have cleared, you book the assessment. If they have not, you are told so before you pay the fee rather than afterwards.
The premise of preparing this way is that a driving assessment is not a driving test so much as a test of driving while being watched. Most learners who fail could drive the same route cleanly a week later with nobody marking them. So the useful thing an instructor can sell in the last fortnight is not more driving, it is the experience of being assessed: the silence, the clipboard, the instruction given late, the feeling that a small mistake has ended everything when it has not.
The routes matter too, and they are district-specific. An assessment in Tuggeranong will use Drakeford and Athllon and the Hyperdome surrounds; one in Woden will put you on Yamba and through the Phillip town centre; Belconnen means the town centre and the university precinct; Gungahlin means Horse Park Drive and the Barton Highway approaches. Practising the general skill on quiet streets and then meeting those roads for the first time on assessment day is the avoidable version of a hard assessment.
The honest limit of preparation is worth stating: nobody can guarantee a pass, and this site does not publish a pass rate, because a pass rate without a published methodology and sample size is a number pointing at itself. What is on offer is a marked mock assessment, a specific list of what to fix, and somebody who will tell you not to book yet if that is the truth.
